Carigara is a second class municipality in the province of Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 47,444 people. It is a town in northern Leyte located right on the shore of Carigara Bay, and surrounded by wide rice fields fanning out towards the mountains in the distance. Last November 8, the town of Carigara suffered the destructive force of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) but the destruction is only minor with 2 recorded deaths.
