Salvia sonchifolia is a perennial plant that is native to Yunnan province in China, found growing in damp forest humus on limestone mountains at 1,300 to 1,500m (4,300 to 4,900ft) elevation. S. sonchifolia grows on erect stems to 30cm (12in) tall, with oblong leaves that are 4 to 6.5cm (1.6 to 2.6in) long and 1.5 to 3cm (0.59 to 1.18in) wide.
