理查逊数

理查逊数（Richardson number，缩写Ri），是一个无因次量，理查逊数代表浮力与惯性力效应之比，理查逊数愈大，浮力的影响愈重要。大气、海洋、湖泊等流场会因为温度或密度分布的不均匀而有密度差异，在重力方向上有密度分层(Stratification)的现象，而理查逊数便可用来评估密度分层的强弱，或浮力对流场的影响。

\mathrm{Ri} = \frac{\text{buoyancy}}{\text{inertia}} = \frac{\Delta \rho gh}{\rho u^2}

其中 g 为重力加速度，h 为垂直长度，u 为速度，ρ 为密度，Δρ 为密度差异。

The Richardson number (Ri) is named after Lewis Fry Richardson (1881 – 1953). It is the dimensionless number that expresses the ratio of the buoyancy term to the flow gradient term:
