The Public Printer of the United States is the head of the United States Government Publishing Office (GPO). Pursuant to 44 U.S.C. § 301, this officer must be nominated by the President of the United States and approved by the United States Senate. President Barack Obama appointed Davita Vance-Cooks as Public Printer of the United States in May 9, 2013 and she was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate on August 1, 2013
