Maithil

The Maithil (Devnagri: मैथिल, Tirhuta: মৈথিল) are the native speakers of the Maithili language in Mithila Federal state of Nepal and Indian state of Bihar who trace their origin from Ancient Mithila which is now a Janakpur metropolitan of Nepal. Maithils are the descendants from King Janak of Nepal. Sita, King Janaka, Ram Baran Yadav, Durgananda Jha, Udit Narayan Jha, Jagannath Mishra, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar are the notable Maithils of Ancient and Modern times. The community worship Salahesh , the god of the Himalaya in northern Nepal. The Malla dynasty of Kathmandu Valley are said to have Maithil origin as they were noted for their fluency in speaking Maithili in their Courts, administrations, various dramas and earlier references from Swayambhu Puran and other folklore of centuries back.
