压力是一个心理学与生物学的术语，意指人类或动物面对情绪上或身体上的有形或无形威胁时，无法正常回应的感受状态。该名词首次出现于1930年代的生物学研究领域里，近年来已逐渐为大众所熟知。

适当的压力可能提高人的警觉性，使其更小心思考，谨慎行事，从而发挥更理想的表现。过度的压力则会使其困扰、沮丧和气馁，引致肾上腺素增多，失去自控能力，影响身体健康。压力包括三部分：

真正、或自以为是具威胁性的事件时所激发起来的一种身心不安、紧张、焦虑、苦恼和逼迫的感受状态。当要求高、限制多而支持少时，即会造成当事者的压力。它与客观问题有关。固此，应付压力之时，最好先了解造成压力的主观因素和客观条件分别是什么。压力来源是指个人和群体的特性与期望、组织特性和工作环境与工作特性。

Stress is a body's method of reacting to a challenge. According to the stressful event, the body's way to respond to stress is by sympathetic nervous system activation which results in the fight-or-flight response. Because the body cannot keep this state for long periods of time, the parasympathetic system returns the body's physiological conditions to normal (homeostasis). In humans, stress typically describes a negative condition or a positive condition that can have an impact on a person's mental and physical well-being.
